Today I took my street car (“street car” sounds much better than “Golf”) for a spin. It’s the first time I’ve driven a car on the left side of the road, so it took a bit getting used to the centre of mass being a few feet in the wrong direction and all other cars behaving like seeking missiles. Fortunately I had borrowed a shiney TomTom which took my attention off everything being all backwards and homicidal.
Streetcar is quite a nice concept. It’s one of those car sharing thingies where they have cars all over town and you pay a membership fee and then pay a little something when you use the car. That way it becomes much more affordable than buying your own car, which is nice as far as affordability goes.
Today was a perfect day to spend in a car puncturing the ozone. It was really chilly and cloudy. So I went to Canterbury, went for a storm defying stroll to the old cathedral, and then drove down to Dover before I had to head home in the rainy night.
